Aggro and weapon attacks

Just made an ice tank and I'm just trying to get an idea how aggro works off of weapon attacks. I know your dominance effects your powers so that's gonna generate aggro but what about weapon attacks?


If my dom is like 600 and i run into a mob and start swinging away without hitting any powers will I generate any aggro? If not wouldn't that mean weapon choice would be pretty much irrelevant meaning you could use just about any weapon tanking?

i dont think weapons really draw aggro. any time you hit an enemy with a power you get aggro for about 12 seconds. ive only used blasters and staff. blasters regenerate power well ive heard and with enough dom a staff can do a decent amount of stunning.

Im only level 10 right now so im just trying some stuff out. The main weapons I want to try are dual wield(currently using it now) hand blaster and staff. My character is a cyborg type and handblasters would really lend itself to his look and all but if it isn't good for tanking im not gonna use it. Thanks for the feedback.

Your weapon attacks have nothing to do with aggro, its all going to be based off of your yellow damage. You want to be casting something atleast every 10-12 sec. to keep good aggro and make sure you have the right abilities that are going to be giving your def. buff (ice) or health buff (fire).
Dom. has no effect on your aggro its mostly just going to be use for your knock down/pull spells. the more you knock things down the less they will be attacking you, a good pull move is good to get things off your hlrs/trollers.
As far as weapon attacks I say go with what ever you feel most comfortable with, each weapon has its own stuns which are nice to keep the damage you take down also.
